This website has been created as a direct result of hundreds of requests and recommendations from Ria Heslop’s family, colleagues and professional advisors, in an effort to both raise funds for treatment and bring greater awareness to the debilitating effects of Lyme Disease and its UK misdiagnosis and mistreatment.

Ria was unfortunate to be struck down with this devastating disease in 1999 and finds herself to this day still fighting not one, but two battles. The principal battle against her Lyme Disease and co-infections is one that Ria bravely engages, but the secondary battle that has emerged as a result of relentless mistreatment from the NHS North Essex Primary Care Trust is considered inhumane and totally unacceptable in this twenty first century.

It is therefore hoped that this appeal website, if nothing else, helps to slow the relentless progression of this pandemic disease by raising public awareness and assists in improving the testing and treatment methods to an acceptable level in the UK, so that others do not have to suffer in the same way as Ria and her fellow victims.
